Since its premiere in 2010, the TLC docuseries Sister Wives has offered a unique glimpse into the world of polygamy, as seen through the eyes of Kody Brown and his four wives, Christine, Janelle, Meri and Robyn. With a total of 18 children between them, Kody is a proud father and dedicated husband to each of his wives.
Despite being the patriarch of four individual families, Kody has had difficulty maintaining healthy relationships with each of his wives. As a result, he has parted ways with three out of four of them, namely Christine, Janelle, and Meri.
Throughout Season 18 of the show, Kody has been left with just one wife, which has resulted in a lot of drama. Kody has been grappling with the question of whether he is capable of being in a completely monogamous relationship with his remaining wife, Robyn.
During a recent episode, which aired on Sept. 10, Kody Brown shared his thoughts on the changes in his family dynamic, saying, โItโs a weird place to be, where you had this big family and itโs a big thing. And now, weโve got this small thing going on thatโs not unimportant and it is beautiful but itโs not big like this other one. Can I adjust?โ As the patriarch of the family featured on Sister Wives, Kodyโs candid reflections offer a glimpse into the challenges of navigating a non-traditional family structure.
Despite his reluctance to identify as a monogamist, recent events have presented Kody Brown with a significant challenge. Paedon Brown, Christine’s child with Kody, has questioned whether polygamy is the right choice for their family.
During an episode aired on Aug. 27, the speaker reflected on the initial purpose of going public and stated, “When we first went public, the purpose of going public was to say, ‘Polygamy works.’ However, I don’t believe it works in my family anymore.”
