1. In the Mood for Love
In the Mood for Love is a romantic drama film written, produced, and directed by Wong Kar-Wai in 2000. The Hong Kong-French co-production depicts a man (Tony Leung) and a woman (Maggie Cheung) whose spouses are having an affair and who slowly develop feelings for one another. Alongside Days of Being Wild and 2046, it forms the second part of an informal trilogy.

Chow Yun-fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi, and Chang Chen star in the film. Based on the same-titled Chinese novel serialized between 1941 and 1942 by Wang Dulu, it is the fourth instalment of his Crane Iron pentalogy.
5. Chungking Express
Chungking Express is a romantic crime comedy-drama film from Hong Kong written and directed by Wong Kar-wai in 1994. In the film’s two stories, a lovesick Hong Kong police officer ruminates over his relationship with a woman.
Takeshi Kaneshiro plays a police officer obsessed with his breakup with a woman named May and his encounter with a mysterious drug smuggler (Brigitte Lin) in the first story. The second film stars Tony Leung as a police officer whose loss of his flight attendant girlfriend (Valerie Chow) is alleviated by the attention of an eccentric snack bar employee (Faye Wong).

6. Infernal Affairs
Andrew Lau and Alan Mak co-directed the 2002 Hong Kong action-thriller Infernal Affairs. Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang, Sammi Cheng, and Kelly Chen star in this co-written film by Mak and Felix Chong. The film follows a Hong Kong Police Force officer who infiltrates a Triad undercover, as well as another officer who is a Triad spy. It is the first instalment in the Infernal Affairs trilogy, including Infernal Affairs II and Infernal Affairs III.

9. The 36th Chamber of Shaolin
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, also known as The Master Killer, Shaolin Master Killer, and Shao Lin San Shi Liu Fang, is a 1978 Hong Kong kung fu film starring Gordon Liu directed by Lau Kar-Leung and produced by Shaw Brothers. The film depicts a highly fictionalized version of San Te, a legendary Shaolin martial arts student trained under Chi Shan.
