Bollywood Movies to watch on Teachers’ Day: Bollywood features films about teachers, a genre that is both emotionally engaging and educational. Teachers are shown as shining examples of wisdom and knowledge in these cinematic gems, which play double duty as entertainment and inspiration.   

On September 5th, we honor teachers for all they do to help shape a better society by celebrating Teacher’s Day. And there will be a deluge of articles on how to celebrate Teacher’s Day as the big day draws near.      

We thought we’d offer something new to the table, though, so we compiled a list of the top Teacher’s Day movies that can serve as a source of motivation in a variety of ways.

1. Black

The film Black tells the tale of a deaf-blind girl and her teacher, who falls ill with Alzheimer’s illness. It features the outstanding performances of Mr. Amitabh Bachhan and Rani Mukherjee.     

The film depicts the male protagonist’s unconventional approaches to teaching the female protagonist the definition of the word.

2. Chak De India

The 2007 film Chak De India sent shivers down people’s spines. The protagonist, portrayed by Sharukh Khan, is a hockey player and coach who helped the Indian women’s hockey team win the World Cup.   

However, the bond between the coach and the players demonstrates that kids should have faith in and obey their teacher since the teacher always has their best interests at heart.

3. Hichki

Hichki, a masterpiece by Siddharth Malhotra and Rani Mukerji, brings attention to the educational system and the right to education in a respectable manner. 

The heroine, a strong female character, accepts the task of teaching the school’s worst class and, through her hard work and dedication, turns one of her students into the best student.

4. Iqbal

Shreyas Talpade plays a deaf and speechless young man named Iqbal in the film Iqbal, who aspires to be a national cricket bowler. He approaches Naseeruddin Shah, who plays a retired coach, and asks if he may train him. 

The film depicts a teacher who transforms a student into a treasure and the boy’s genuine care for his teacher.

5. Jagriti

Jagriti, which is based on the Bengali film Paribartan, follows a teacher’s attempts to instill values in a misbehaving kid and transform him into a model student at a boarding school. In 1954, the film hit theaters. If you have Amazon Prime, you can view it.

6. Kai Po Che

The film Kai Po Che!, which was directed by Abhishek Kapoor, is adapted from the book Three Mistakes Of My Life by Chetan Bhagat.  The role that Sushant Singh Rajput plays in this film— a cricket selection fraternity member who falls prey to insider politics— inspired us to include it in our list of Bollywood films perfect for Teacher’s Day Specials. Rajput goes on to teach a young man named Ali from his hometown.

7. Super 30

The film is based on the life of Anand Kumar, who, on an annual basis, tutors thirty students who otherwise would not be able to afford the tuition at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). 

Anand Kumar’s fight for the right to education is depicted in the film, along with his challenges and efforts in this cause.

8. Taare Zameen Par

Taare Zameen Par, starring Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, is a masterwork depicting a teacher’s selfless devotion to their children. It is the gold standard of Bollywood’s “teacher’s day movies” and a valuable classic.

9. Chhichhore

This touching film follows a group of college buddies as they reflect about their eccentric professor and the wisdom they gained from their friendship.

10. Nil Battey Sannata

Everyone knows that a child’s mother is their first and most influential educator, and this film does a fantastic job of bringing that saying to life on screen.
